The Sixth Annual Arnold Fencing Classic will offer competitions for all ages, all weapons with the presentation of a $1,000 college scholarship by the Columbus Rotary to a deserving youth competitor.

The mission of the Arnold Fencing Classic is to present and promote the sport of fencing by hosting a high level regional youth competition and to showcase world class fencers in competitive exhibition bouts. Numerous youth organizations participate annually in the Arnold Fencing Classic including the esteemed Peter Westbrook Foundation, and After-School All-Stars Columbus, a year - round comprehensive after-school program spearheaded by national Honorary Chairman, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 2009, The Arnold Fencing Classic will feature a regional youth circuit, open tournaments for all weapons, and an Invitational for the world class fencers. The Open Epee, “Tournament of the Kings” is always a must see event as well as the Open Foil and Open Saber competitions.

In 2009, the Arnold Fencing Classic will be held on one day - Sunday, March 8, 2008. In the elite event there will be two athletes demonstrating in each weapon. America's most dedicated fencer - 6-time Olympian Peter Westbrook will attend the event and 3-time Olympian Mikail Sankofa will be in Columbus to inspire young fencers. The Arnold Fencing Classic is annually organized by Co-chairs Donald Anthony and Julia Richey. Both Anthony and Richey are established as internationally recognized athletes within the sport of fencing. Anthony is the former Secretary of the United States Fencing Association and a U.S. National Squad member from 1982-1996. Julia Richey is a former member of the Russian National Squad.

The Arnold Fencing Classic is held as a part of the Arnold Sports Festival inside the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
